Badra Ali Sangare has made up with Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says he has smoked a peace pipe with goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare ahead of Saturday's Nedbank Cup final against Maritzburg United at Cape Town Stadium.

In the 80th minute a week ago against Orlando Pirates, Sangare infuriated Eymael when he took 10 minutes to get himself ready to replace an injured Thela Ngobeni, assuming the latter was just wasting time.

The Ivorian goalie had to be pulled away from Eymael, who holds a black belt in karate, by teammate Rooi Mahamutsa after things started to escalate.

Eymael, a former keeper, expressed his unhappiness with Sangare when he told SABC TV that it was the first time he came across such behaviour from a keeper.

He said: "Unfortunately he is shouting, but he was absolutely not concentrating. It's the first time that I saw a goalkeeper who is on the bench take 10 minutes to go on the pitch."

But now Eymael says Sangare later apologised to him and his teammates.

"My friend, my friend, nothing special you know. Sangare apologised Monday morning for his attitude that he had on the bench," Eymael tells KickOff.com.

"You know he was not ready, he took 10 minutes to be ready when we made a substitution for a goalkeeper. Especially with an international goalkeeper it's not normal. So you know he lost his focus and he was absolutely not ready to enter. It's the reason why he apologised in front of everybody on Monday. That is why I was not okay with him on Saturday."

Asked if Sangare's behaviour might harm his chances of making the starting line-up this weekend, Eymael insists Ngobeni was always going to be his first choice if fit.

"It was not planned like that, it was planned that if Thela is ok ... he will play."
