Maritzburg United battling Free State Stars for R7m pot in Nedbank Cup final

The winners of the Nedbank Cup final will pocket a cool R7 million this weekend.

Maritzburg United and Free State Stars will battle for honours at 19h00 at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

The losing finalist will receive R2.5m.

Beaten semi-finalists Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs were handed R1m each for their efforts in the competition.

The quarter-finalists picked up R400 000 apiece; teams that reached the last-16 got R200 000, while the last-32 losers banked R100 000.

With added participation fees, total prize money for the tournament is R20.3m.

The Nedbank Cup champions will join Chiefs - who finished third in the league in 2017/18 - in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
