Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic feels they have enough quality in their team to prove their doubters wrong and compete on all fronts next season.
Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane previously suggested that Pirates may struggle to cope in 2018/19 with the added obligation of CAF Champions League football.
Mosimane said earlier this month: "They have the coach. Micho knows the Champions League. But does [Thembinkosi] Lorch know it? What about [Luvuyo] Memela? And the boy from Zambia [Justin Shonga]?
"Let’s face it, Pirates have been playing every seven days. Can they play every three days like us? They had enough rest this season. They were not even in the top eight. They were fresh. You’re in transit, on flights, then when you land you have a match two days later. Do they [Pirates] have the mentality?"
Micho, however, backs his men to show their mettle.
"Having in mind that I have a personal relationship with him [Mosimane] and having in mind that I know him very well as a person, he has the right to think the way he wants," Sredojevic said.
"As you know, up until the last two matches we were still in contention for the league and we have never mentioned anyone ahead of us because we just thought about ourselves.
"Instead of thinking about what everyone has said, we have all the space, motivation and all the qualities to prove him wrong or anyone thinking that way.
"We are personal friends and if we have something I will tell him face to face, he knows that even before their match against Wydad Casablanca.
"Otherwise, I have nothing to talk about. I just think about Orlando Pirates and we have reasons to prove in front of us whoever have doubts in us, we shall show ourselves in the best way," concluded the Serbian.
