Valverde says he liked the enthusiasm Downs played with, while being honoured as a club to be invited for the Mandela 100 year celebrations.

“It’s a team with a lot of enthusiasm and the environment and atmosphere. I liked it very much. It’s been an honour to be invited to celebrate the 100 years of Mr Mandela," Valverde told SuperSport TV with the help of a translator.

“I think people enjoyed it very much. I think they enjoyed it very much watching their favourite players playing so that is fantastic,” he said in a post-match interview.

“It’s a pleasure to be here. I think the African supporters are always very happy and want to enjoy everything. It was nice being here, it was a good experience and it was nice to learn from them,” he added.
