Ex-Baroka showboater Tshepo 'Skhwama' Matete now a defender at Township Rollers

Township Rollers coach Nikola Kavazovic believes South African showboater Tshepo 'Skhwama' Matete is better suited to playing at the back than in midfield.

The Serbian coach has vowed to convert Matete into a fullback in the mould of Real Madrid star Marcelo.

The 26-year-old Matete decided to move across the border to join the Botswana giants in June last after he was sent packing by former club Baroka six months earlier.

"He changed his style of play 60-70 percent," Kavazovic tells KickOff.com.

"No more joking [showboating] on the field. He is allowed to make some fun for the supporters when we have two-goal margin advantage.

"In 70 percent of games he is used as an ultra offensive fullback and in that position he's got responsibility and understanding.

"He is excellent in one-versus-one defensive aspect, covering, corrections ... perfect movement without the ball, creating space, space runs on one against three.

"Problem at the moment is his mental stability since he lost his father. He is working very hard on the desired level and next season we will produce him into something like Marcelo from Real. His new style of play is very similar to the Brazilian."
