National Under-20 goalkeeper and captain Khulekani Kubeka feels they have laid a solid foundation heading into this weekend's second leg qualifier for the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Amajita got themselves a valuable away goal in a 1-1 draw in the first leg, second round clash at Campo de Ferroviaro da Beira in Beira City, Mozambique.
Tashreeq Matthews of Ajax Cape Town got the all-important goal and Amajita will now be looking to book themselves a spot in the final round of qualifiers when they play the second leg at Moruleng Stadium on Sunday.
“I think the coaches did a good job in trying to bring us together and to make us adapt to the surroundings as quick as possible. The guys responded well to that, so I think everybody played their part. We need to focus and go finish it off in South Africa,” Khubeka said after the game.
“We will create even more chances than we created in Mozambique. The guys put out a solid performance and we hope to finish the job off at home.
“I think the away goal is very important because it always carries that weight. We got the away goal, even though we did not get the desired result. But the away goal will give us the motivation going into the second leg.
“We worked as a team. Mozambique had a good game plan and they prepared well, so overall it was quite a difficult game, especially because it was away from home.”
The 2019 U-20 AFCON will be played in Niger.
