Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 0-0 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Brazilians were eager to get forward as soon as they had the ball in the opening exchanges but were unable to establish any rhythm.
Siwelele were content in sitting back and fancying their chances on counter-attacks in the opening 15 minutes.
However, Masandawana started to put together a string of promising passes towards half-an-hour but could not really create chances in the last third.
Thapelo Morena should have done better for the visitors in the 35th minute after Percy Tau set him up inside the box but he fluffed his chance on a volley while free in the area.
Chances were hard to come by in the closing stages of half, although Oupa Manyisa nearly broke the deadlock with a curling free-kick in the stroke of half-time but the two sides went into the break goalless.
George Lebese was unlucky not to have got the breakthrough for Masandawana four minutes into the second stanza after his shot was cleared off the line by Alfred Ndengane.
Pitso Mosimane’s charges upped their tempo towards an hour-mark and were threatening to get on the scoresheet.
The Brazilians were throwing everything at Siwelele with 20 minutes to go but the home side were defending resolutely at the back.
Veselin Jelusic’s troops were dangerous in the last 10 minutes on counter-attacks as the visitors were attacking in numbers.
The tempo of the match was fizzling out in the last five minutes as the two sides were not showing any sense of urgency.
In the closing minutes, neither side showed any hunger to go for it and it ended scoreless.
