Posted: 11 May 2018 Time: 20:00

Following reports that Sergio Aguero could make a sensational return to Atletico Madrid in the off-season, Manchester City head coach has responded to the speculation.

Aguero enjoyed a spectacular campaign at the Etihad this season as City romped to the Premier League title, while the Argentine featured in the PFA Team of the Year for the first time in his career.

His 30 goals in 39 games across all competitions looked to have convinced Guardiola that the club-record goalscorer wants to remain in the Premier League.

But the Spaniard feels in football, the future of modern day players can be unpredictable.

"I think it's not going to happen," Guardiola told reporters ahead of their final league fixture. "My desire, I think it's not going to happen. But I don't know."

"I said, maybe 1000 times, [he'll stay] until he decides his time here is over. That's why I say it [the transfer] is not going to happen, but in football you never know.

"I said it last season and this season many times and I say it today. That's why I say it isn't going to happen, but in football you never know."
