Golden Arrows' Sandile Zuke relishing KZN derby debut against Maritzburg United

Posted: 11 May 2018 Time: 15:15

Golden Arrows midfielder Sandile Zuke says he can't wait to play in his first KwaZulu-Natal derby against Maritzburg United on Saturday afternoon at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Arrows is the only KZN side the Durban-born Kaizer Chiefs development product has ever played for in his career.

The 30-year-old joined Abafana Bes'thende from Chippa United during the January transfer window, after spending 11 years playing away from his home province.

Zuke understands that Arrows have to beat the Team of Choice in the last game of the season to keep their place in the top eight, which won't be easy against fourth-placed United, who are chasing a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

"To be honest it's a very crucial game for us," Zuke tells

"We are looking to cement a place in the top eight, so we are going there just to get three points. We gonna work hard to get those three points as we want to finish in the top eight at the end of the day.

"It's gonna be my first time being involved in such a game, a KZN contest. As you know it's my first time playing in KZN so it's gonna be exciting for me and the team cause I'm sure the game is gonna provide fireworks. It's gonna be one of those games. As you are saying, they are also fighting for a spot in CAF and we are also fighting for top eight."

Zuke has enjoyed his time under coach Clinton Larsen so far.

"It's been great, I've been enjoying myself. It's just a matter of working hard. So far, overall I think I have enjoyed my stay and I am looking forward to more seasons.

"Well everywhere there are challenges but I've enjoyed each and every moment so far. Of course top eight is a priority. I will be very happy if we can get a spot in the top eight."
