Manchester City's Pep Guardiola lauds records but stops short of best ever Premier League side tag

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is targeting another important landmark after breaking three incredible Premier League records in the victory over Brighton last night.

After the impressive 3-1 victory at the Etihad last night that was built up as the final farewell to club legend Yaya Toure, the Citizens moved up to 97 points for the season.

It marked the record amount of points achieved in a single English top-flight season, with the most wins (31) and the most goals (105) and with one fixture remaining Guardiola has set his sights on a historic 100 point mark.

"Ninety-seven points, a lot of goals, a lot of wins, that is a consequence of the season we have done," he told reporters, as quoted by BBC. "We want 100 points to finish this almost perfect season in the Premier League.

While the Spaniard was full of praise of his fluent attacking Citizens, he stopped short of labeling his team as the best side in Premier League history.

"To be considered one of the best, you have to win more. To be alongside United in the 1990s or Liverpool in the 1980s you have to win more.

"I am not saying we are a legend team, I am not saying we are better than them. No, because you have to make more years to do that, but in one season we were better than all of them in the history of Premier League and the history of English football."
