Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been described as one of the most important players the club has ever had, in the wake of his farewell fixture from the Premier League champions.
Toure's exit from the Citizens was confirmed on the eve of their Premier League crowning at the Etihad on Saturday and the Ivorian will depart with a lasting legacy.
Over 300 appearances and three league winners medals since joining the club from FC Barcelona is just what will go down in the history books, but his powerful presence and dominating midfield displays will live long in the memory of English football lovers.
Initially signed as a defensive midfielder, Toure developed into arguably the finest box-to-box midfielder in Europe and a record of 79 goals and 50 assists over the past eight season's is testement to his influence.
Despite being restricted to just 142 minutes of league football this season, Brighton manager Chris Houghton has lavished praise of the four-time African Player of the year.
"(I have) huge respect (for him)," Houghton said ahead of the Seagulls clash with City. "There will obviously be somebody that doesn't play and he will play; well, he's not a bad player to bring in, is he, with what he's done?
"I suppose him and (David) Silva instantly come to mind that have been through a longer period and seen the real progress of this football team.
"He hasn't figured as much as he would have liked but when he leaves and individuals look back at the great players of Manchester City then I think he has certainly been one of them."
