Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has confirmed club legend Yaya Toure will depart from the Premier League champions at the end of the season.
Toure, 34, has played a peripheral role under Guardiola this season with only nine appearances in the league due to the scintillating form of midfielders Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Fernandinho.
However, as he collects his third Premier League winners medal this year, his overall contribution to City can never be forgotten as one of the most influential midfielders in the modern English game since his arrival from FC Barcelona in 2010.
With 82 goals in 315 appearances, the four-time African Footballer of the Year has been lauded for his contribution to the Citizens' history by the man who sanctioned his sale to the club.
"Yaya is not going to stay next season," Guardiola said, as quoted by The Mirror. "The Brighton game, we will focus on winning and Yaya. We are going to try and win the game for him.
"Yaya came here at the start of the journey. Where we are now is because of what he has done. He was a key player."
