Mahlambi joined Ahly from Bidvest Wits in September last year.

"Egypt is a stepping stone to Europe," Mahlambi tells the May edition of KICK OFF Magazine.

"Look at the players who played in Europe - it's easy for them to play in Europe.

"Everyone wants to play in Europe, and many of their scouts come to Egypt.

"Coming here is a good thing. If you are in a comfort zone it gets too comfortable and you are not going to learn anything."

Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has named Mahlambi in his preliminary COSAFA Cup squad.
