PSL chairman Irvin Khoza has made a public statement after it was revealed that SAFA president Danny Jordaan has opened a case of defamation, criminal collusion and conspiracy against him.
According to a report in the Sunday Times, Jordaan claims Khoza was the catalyst in the rape case opened against him by singer and former ANC MP Jennifer Ferguson.
Ferguson opened a case of rape at the police station in Parkview, Johannesburg, last month.
According to the article, Jordaan said Khoza paid Ferguson’s flights and accomodation through a third party.
Khoza has not received any communication from the police, or Jordaan, since the report was published in the newspaper.
Khoza, who was part of the SAFA Congress in Sandton over the weekend, called a press conference today to respond to the allegations and said Jordaan “attacks people in public and apologises behind closed doors”.
“I have called you here today to respond to allegations made in media on Sunday and Monday and repeated to this point. Let me say from the onset, I do not know Mrs Jennifer Ferguson. I have never met her, spoken to her and I have never had any form of contact with her. I have never had contact with anyone associated with Mrs Ferguson, or sent anyone to talk to Mrs Jennifer Ferguson and I have never been approached by anyone associated with her.
“I know nothing about what is alleged by Dr Danny Jordaan, both to the police and in the media about me. I think it’s important to take you through the flow of events leading up to Sunday the 29th of April up to this moment. On Friday April 27 there was a SAFA Executive Committee meeting, where both Dr Jordaan and I were in attendance. In this meeting Dr Jordaan mentioned how he is mounting a massive fight and insinuated my involvement in something he is going to expose. When I enquired about the reasons and content of this fight, he said I should wait for Saturday and Sunday to see. I did not know that on Sunday I would wake up to the most bizarre and absurd of conspiracy theories involving my name.”
He continued: “It is important to point out a tactic Dr Jordan uses against his perceived enemies. He attacks people in public and apologises behind closed doors."
