Lerato Lamola not losing sleep over Golden Arrows future

Posted: 2 May 2018 Time: 14:00

Golden Arrows striker Lerato Lamola has hinted he wants to extend his stay with the top-eight hopefuls.

Lamola's two-year contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the season, as will the deals of Limbikani Mzava, Wayde Jooste and Lehlohonolo Nonyane at the Durban-based outfit.

The 31-year-old, who is Arrows' top scorer this season with eight goals in all competitions and has also provided six assists, reiterated his value with a brace in a much-needed 3-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs last week.

He then missed the weekend's 3-2 defeat of already-relegated Platinum Stars through suspension.

“This is home and I know I came here two seasons ago, but I’m still interested to be at home,” Lamola tells KickOff.com.

“She [chairperson Mato Madlala] knows that I’m home here. Going forward, it is both our decisions but this is home here.

“Nothing has to be done, but as it’s home for me, I don’t have to talk to the chairlady. All we wanted to do was to concentrate on the relegation zone.

“I can’t go and say, ‘Mummy, let’s negotiate.’ I’m a human being at the same time and I have to think of the team.

“At least we’ll talk later, me and her about the situation,” concludes Lamola, who plundered 13 goals in 2014/15 - one shy of then-Golden Boot winner Moeketsi Sekola - when working under coach Clinton Larsen at former club Bloemfontein Celtic.

Abafana Bes'thende, in seventh place on the table, eased their relegation concerns by beating Chiefs and Dikwena.

Larsen's side will aim to qualify for the MTN8 when they visit high-flying neighbours Maritzburg United in their final game of the season on May 12.
