Free State Stars and Polokwane City played to a 0-0 draw in their penultimate Absa Premiership match on Saturday afternoon at Goble Park.
The tempo of the match was low key in the early stages as both sides sized each other up.
Rise and Shine took the initiative after the first quarter while Stars were looking to pick them off on a counter-attack.
Rodney Ramagalela almost broke the deadlock in the 25th minute for City with a snap-shot from just outside the box but his effort sailed over the bar.
Siphelele Mthembu had a chance to find the breakthrough in the 33rd minute for Stars after being sent through but fired wide.
Rooi Mahamutsa almost netted for Ea Lla Koto five minutes before the break with a chance at the back post but guided his header into the side-netting.
The first 10 minutes of the second half was a similar story to the first as the two lacked quality in the final third.
City’s Walter Musona was causing problems for Ea Lla Koto after coming on for Sammy Seabi but he too failed to test goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare.
Stars were not showing any positive intent of going forward with ten minutes to play. This was further evident when Luc Eymael took off striker Harris Tchilimbou with two minutes to go and brought in defender Thamsanqa Teyise.
In the end, the two sides shared the spoils at Goble Park.
