SuperSport United survived an onslaught by Free State Stars to boost their Absa Premiership survival hopes with a 3-2 win on Wednesday.
SuperSport, who have not scored in their last five matches since the Tshwane derby towards the end of February, took an early lead from the spot following a handball by Patrick Phungwayo.
Thabo Mnyamane, who scored twice in their last fixture against Gor Mahia, stepped up to beat Thela Ngobeni after 10 minutes.
They looked troubling every time they got on the ball at the midway point and were closing on a second, but were let down by poor finishing.
Nhlanhla Vilakazi went close with a shot from range, but was unable to beat Ronwen Williams as it sailed over the bar.
Mnyamane then laid a perfect ball for Aubrey Modiba on 31 minutes, but the former Black Aces man blasted wide.
An own goal early in the second half by Richard Boateng brought the equaliser, with Stars given hope on 56 minutes.
That was before Williams pulled off a world-class save to deny Harris Tchilimbou from continuing his goal-scoring exploits, fresh from seeing off Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup.
A good move by Stars involving talisman Sinethemba Jantjie was cut off by Reneilwe Letsholonyane on 66 minutes.
Three minutes later, Matsatsantsa regained the lead when Aubrey Modiba beat Ngobeni with a low shot from inside the box.
The lead didn’t last long though as Nyiko Mobi lashed home the equaliser following a loose ball around the box.
Teboho Mokoena, who came from the bench, ended Stars' hopes of a point with the winner from close-range in the final minute of regulation time.
