Orlando Pirates have been dealt a massive injury blow with news that one of their key midfielders has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Coach Micho Sredojevic has had his worst fear confirmed with Thembinkosi Lorch having been ruled out until next season after dislocating his shoulder.
The 24-year-old underwent further scans after getting hurt in his side's 2-1 victory over AmaZulu earlier this month, with the club having since confirmed the extent of the injury.
"Thembinkosi Lorch has been ruled out for the rest of the season after injuring his shoulder," read a statement on the club's official website.
The news comes as a huge setback to both the club and the player, who in March made his Bafana Bafana debut in the four-nations friendly tournament in Zambia.
Meanwhile, another attacker is in doubt ahead of tonight's crunch Absa Premiership clash with Bidvest Wits, as Luvuyo Memela is set to undergo a late fitness test.
"'Meme' – as Memela is affectionately known – is due to undergo a late fitness test after getting injured during training this week," read the statement.
"The Bucs medical team are expected to make a call later today on the 30-year old left footer."
The former Cape Town All Stars winger has been in impressive form for the Buccaneers this season, managing five goals and nine assists in all competitions.
Furthermore, utility player Gladwin Shitolo is set to miss tonight's fixture after picking up a foot injury in training, while Mpho Makola will serve a one-match suspension due to an accumulation of four yellow cards.
