Premier Soccer League chairman and Orlando Pirates boss Irvin Khoza will address the media at 12h30 today following the chaos that ensued at Moses Mabhida Stadium on the weekend.
A number of Kaizer Chiefs' fans ran riot after the team's 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on Saturday, as their demands for coach Steve Komphela to be removed at Naturena turned violent.
Security guards were assaulted, parts of the stadium were torched, broadcast equipment was vandalised, and players and officials were pelted with missiles in Durban.
Violence also spilled outside the venue, with two arrests since being made by police.
Komphela resigned after the defeat.
Unruly fan behaviour has been in the spotlight of late, as Amakhosi were recently fined R250 000 by the PSL, with R200 000 suspended for a 24-month period, after supporters went on the rampage after a 3-0 league loss to Chippa United at FNB Stadium on April 7.
Pirates were also last week ordered by the PSL to play two matches behind closed doors owing to hooliganism during a 6-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld in February, 2017.
Less than two weeks ago was the 17-year anniversary of the Ellis Park Stadium Disaster. Forty-three fans lost their lives that fateful Wednesday and 158 sustained injuries during a Soweto Derby between Chiefs and Bucs in Johannesburg.
