AmaZulu docked points in MultiChoice Diski Shield

Posted: 20 April 2018 Time: 14:40

The PSL have confirmed that AmaZulu have been docked points over the fielding of an ineligible player in their last MultiChoice Diski Shield encounter.

Usuthu's loss is Maritzburg United's gain as three points have been awarded to the Team of Choice, over the illegitimate fielding of attacker Sandile Khumalo.

Khumalo was set to serve a one-match suspension due to an accumulation of yellow cards, but instead was out on the park and netted two of his side's three goals that saw them beat their KZN rivals 3-1 on April 8.

However, the result has since been scrapped with Maritburg having been awarded a 3-0 victory instead.

"AmaZulu FC were found guilty for fielding an ineligible player Mr. Sandile Khumalo on their MultiChoice Diski Shield match against Maritzburg United on 8 April 2018," read a statement from the PSL on Friday.

"The match was awarded to Maritzburg United with a 3-0 scoreline. Consequently, the points awarded to AmaZulu FC for the win were deducted and the goals scored are annulled. The player is suspended for an additional match."
