Tottenham striker Harry Kane responds to backlash following successful goal appeal

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has opened up about the severe backlash surrounding his 'stolen goal' that was originally awarded to his teammate Christian Eriksen.

Kane, who's been awarded a place in the PFA Team of Year for his 26 goals in 33 games this season, has been subject to ridicule and backlash from fans on social media, for claiming Eriksen's initial goal brushed off his shoulder during the 2-1 victory over Stoke City.

The England star was eventually granted the goal after a review from the league's committee and he's now defended his stance - as he trails Mohamed Salah by four goals, with four games remaining.

"People are going to jump on the bandwagon and have a bit of fun on social media," the 24-year-old told Sky Sports News. "But it's my job to be able to be out there on the pitch and do my best for the team and work hard.

"It's just part of the game in this day and age. People can have their opinion; it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Some people can laugh at it, but I'm just focused on my own job."
