Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says "these things happen" after Sibusiso Vilakazi became a target of the boo-boys last night.
A section of Sundowns fans jeered Vilakazi and called for his substitition after he squandered some chances in the 1-0 defeat of Golden Arrows at Loftus Versfeld.
Mosimane feels Vilakazi's composed style of play has its positives and drawbacks.
"Ja, these things do happen," Mosimane said.
"'Mshishi' [Themba Zwane] scored in the last few days. 'Vila' scored a week before. These things do happen. Of course we need better finishing that they did.
"Sometimes Vila has his way of playing. He is a player with cold nerves. He never has stress on the ball or in any other situation. Sometimes that can be a little bit negative because he is calm.
"But also his calmness does help. Look at when he played Baroka, his calmness to bring the ball to [Percy] Tau, it helped."
Vilakazi has scored six goals and provided three assists in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.
The victory over Arrows saw Downs pull six points clear of Orlando Pirates at the summit with three league games left.
Mosimane's men will next battle Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday (15h00).
