The attacking midfielder, who is back at training, is still making his way back from knee surgery after getting injured shortly after his arrival at Naturena from Bloemfontein Celtic in January.

Mahlasela is naturally frustrated with his situation, but says he has received ample support.

“I was frustrated because of not being able to play, but the tremendous support I got from my family and friends helped a lot,” Mahlasela told his club's website.

“I am glad to be at a club that has the kind of medical care as Chiefs have. I feel good because I am getting better every time at training. My confidence is returning as well.

“I don’t know how it will be when I get into match situations but I will be ready when the time comes,” concluded the 27-year-old.

Chiefs have provided updates on the progress of five other players on the mend ahead of Saturday's Nedbank Cup semi-final with Free State Stars.

Kick-off is scheduled for 20h15 at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.
