Orlando Pirates are being made to sweat over the extent of the injury suffered by star midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch this past weekend.
Lorch was substituted at half-time after dislocating his shoulder in Pirates' 2-1 Absa Premiership victory over AmaZulu on Sunday afternoon.
With just three games remaining, coach Micho Sredojevic and co. are now eagerly anticipating the results of further tests and scans that the 24-year-old has had to undergo.
The club have since pointed out that the Bafana Bafana winger had suffered the same injury on the exact date last year, which subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign, but are hoping this time is different.
"Lorch suffered a similar injury last year in Pirates’ goal-less draw with Highlands Park, ironically, on April 15 - the same day of his recent injury," read a statement on Bucs' website.
"Last year, Lorch was forced to undergo surgery and as a result he missed the remainder of the season."
Meanwhile, fullback Mthokozisi Dube is nearing a return from an injury he suffered in the goalless draw with SuperSport United a week ago, which saw him miss the win over Usuthu at the weekend.
Other casualties include Thabo Matlaba [Achilles] and Thabiso Kutumela [ankle], witha return date yet to be confirmed.
However, goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has recovered from a finger fracture that has kept him out of contention in recent weeks, and has been cleared to resume full training ahead of their next clash against Bidvest Wits next week.
