A Moroccan delegation has landed in South Africa to meet with SAFA president Danny Jordaan to discuss the north African country’s aspirations to host the 2026 World Cup.
Morocco are hoping to stage the 23rd edition of the World Cup, and face competition from a joint bid from Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.
A FIFA Congress will be held in Moscow, Russia on June 13 to decide the host nation of the first World Cup that will feature 48 countries.
“As a country that hosted a successful World Cup in 2010, Morocco have decided to come to South Africa to seek advice about bidding and hosting a successful World Cup,” SAFA communications director Dominic Chimhavi tells KickOff.com.
“As we know that SAFA president Danny Jordaan was the CEO of our World Cup bid and that the Moroccan delegation saw it as a need to talk to him and exchange ideas. They will be spending a week in South Africa.”
