Steve Komphela will not be the Kaizer Chiefs coach next season as management has already decided to release him, according to a source.
Chiefs are already out of contention for the Absa Premiership title and can now only hope to win the Nedbank Cup. They are in the semi-finals of the knockout competition, having been drawn to play against Free State Stars on April 21.
But even if Komphela leads Amakhosi to the cup title, management is unlikely to renew his contract, which expires at the end of June.
An insider has revealed Amakhosi are already looking for a replacement.
"I think they couldn't release him [in the past] because he is on the big contract, they didn't wanna pay him out. So let's hope and pray for the best," the source tells KickOff.com.
"The problem is that the team is not scoring. If the team was scoring things would be different.
"For the players, the mood in the camp is very bad, it's difficult.
"I don't think he is going to stay. It's been two seasons without a trophy, it's not good for the club and for the fans. I think they are looking at bringing in a new coach, we just don't know who cause they haven't said anything, they haven't mentioned any coach yet."
