Baroka FC have already started searching for a replacement for Gift Motupa

Posted: 11 April 2018 Time: 19:00

Baroka FC CEO Morgan Mammila says they are on a mission to find a replacement for on-loan midfielder Gift Motupa.

Motupa will return to Orlando Pirates at the end of the season, after a successful loan spell that has seen him bag eight league goals up to this point. Motupa is just three goals behind joint top scorers Percy Tau and Rodney Ramagalela.

“Obviously Motupa is going back to Pirates, but we are working to get his replacement,” Mammila tells

“We've already identified the replacement, it's just a matter of putting everything together and in action when it comes to that. We are busy. He [the replacement] might be local or international but we'll get a replacement, there’s no doubt.

“Our focus is more in South Africa to bring up and coming youngsters, because that's what we are best at. We have to continue that.”

Mammila says he is happy with Bakgaga's season, but stresses that there is room for improvement. Eighth-placed Baroka have done well to turn things around this season after surviving relegation via the play-offs in the last campaign.

“To be honest I'm happy, though there's still room for improvement.

“Next season I want a far much better performance than this, because this season is much better than the last one. And next season I want it to be far much better than this.

“The first thing is to make sure that your status is safe, then you can talk about the top eight and talk about whatever cups.”

Baroka will host third-placed Maritzburg United at Peter Mokaba Stadium, on Sunday (15h00).
