Maritzburg United's Siyanda Xulu steering clear of PSL awards talk

Maritzburg United's Siyanda Xulu is not getting caught up in talk he could be a contender for the Absa Premiership Defender of the Season award.
Xulu has revived his career at Maritzburg this season after a horror two-year stay at Kaizer Chiefs where he barely featured.
The centre-back has helped the Team of Choice concede the least amount of goals in the league this campaign, having scored three of his own in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Xulu's teammates Siphesihle Ndlovu, Richard Ofori and coach Fadlu Davids have also been touted for recognition at the PSL's annual awards ceremony.
Xulu, however, is wary of placing undue pressure on himself.
"It's not going to fair of me to put that kind of pressure on myself," says Xulu, whose side have also booked a Nedbank Cup semi-final date with his former team Mamelodi Sundowns on April 22 at Harry Gwala Stadium.
"I think for me now I'm only embracing the fact that I'm playing well for Maritzburg. Expecting more, it's going to cost me some disappointment and I'm not going to be the same Siyanda that came in and joined Maritzburg.
"I think it's only going to be fair for me to focus on Maritzburg and let that unfold itself."
The 26-year-old from KwaMashu, whose form didn't sway Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter into calling him up for a recent four-nations tournament in Zambia, stressed teamwork have been behind United's strong showing this season.
"It's all about the team. The fact that we've defended so well and we are scoring goals as well... it's all about the team.
"I think it'll be unfair of me to say 'it's only Siyanda who did well'. We are going as partners, we go with a group, we go as a team. Ofori, the whole defense, Bevan [Fransman], [Brian] Onyango, Rushine De Reuck, all play a part.
"We can also score goals as well. It's really not about defending well, it's also about scoring - that's why we are in the top three on the log table."
Davids' men next face Baroka in the league on Sunday at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
