Manchester United starlet pledges international allegiance to Nigeria

A promising Manchester United midfielder has turned his back on England in favour of representing Nigeria after being inspired by Super Eagles stars in the Premier League.

Tosin Kehinde, 19, described as a cultured left-footed midfielder, was born in Lagos but was raised in England and joined the United academy at the age of seven.

Having risen through the ranks at Old Trafford, Kehinde has now set his sights on rubbing shoulders with some of his idols with the Super Eagles.

"Nigeria has always been a part of me. I was born there. My whole family are Nigerian. I come from a very strong Nigerian background so the influence has always been around me," he told BBC Sport.

"When you are growing up, when you see players like Jay Jay Okocha, how good he was and the current crop of players such as Alex Iwobi and Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, the desire to get the opportunity to play for Nigeria has always been there really."
