The Premier Soccer League has confirmed that it will hand over the National First Division trophy on the final day of the season.

Highlands Park will win automatic promotion if they beat University of Pretoria at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday (15h00), but they will only receive the trophy on the final day of the season on May 12.

In fact Highlands, who have a 15 point lead at the top of the table, need just a point to guarantee themselves a place in the PSL next season, after getting relegated last term.

The PSL statement reads as follows: “The Premier Soccer League will hand over the National First Division (NFD) trophy on the last day of the 2017/18 NFD season.

“This is in line with the League’s standing practice of handing over trophies on the last day of the season.

“The last fixtures of the National First Division will be played on Sunday, 13 May 2018.”
