Orlando Pirates’ Micho Sredojevic and Musa Nyatama have been named Absa Premiership coach and player of the month for March respectively, while Justin Shonga scooped the goal of the month award for February.

Pirates won their two matches in March, beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 and Golden Arrows 2-1.

The victory over Chiefs was an impressive one as they ended the many draws supporters had become tired of seeing in the Soweto derby. A goal from Thembinkosi Lorch and a brace from substitute Luvuyo Memela secured a great win for the Buccaneers at FNB Stadium.

They followed that up with a victory away from home against Arrows, thanks to goals from Lorch and Mthokozisi Dube.

Nyatama, who scored in the 2-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Orlando Stadium last night, has enjoyed a great first season with the Soweto giants, proving to be the ideal box-to-box player in coach Micho’s starting line-up.

He provided assists in both of the side’s victories last month.

Shonga won goal of the month for the spectacular strike from a tight angle against Chippa United on February 25.

Pirates are having a great year so far, losing just once since the start of 2018. They are currently second on the league standings, just a point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand.

They have a good chance of winning the title.
