Chippa United are ready to face a Mamelodi Sundowns side with loads of quality

Posted: 4 April 2018 Time: 11:00

Chippa United midfielder Mark Mayambela admits it’s difficult to plan for a Mamelodi Sundowns side that gets tweaked every week, but says they are ready for the challenge.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has the luxury of rotating his squad because of the quality he has, using the likes of Themba Zwane, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Aubrey Ngoma, Jeremy Brockie, Gaston Sirino and Khama Billiat, whenever the Zimbabwean is available of course.

Mayambela believes Chippa has just as much quality in their side and they need to show that at Loftus tonight, when they visit the Absa Premiership leaders in what should be an intriguing encounter.

Chippa are in 11th place on 30 points, just six ahead of 15th placed Ajax Cape Town, who occupy the play-offs spot, with six matches to go. The Chilli Boys need to get a victory at Loftus to give themselves some breathing space.

“We are not in a position to choose which games to win or lose,” Mayambela tells KickOff.com. “We need three points in every game we play and the game against Sundowns is no exception.”

The former Orlando Pirates player says they have been working hard at training to prepare for whatever Sundowns will throw at them.

“It's not easy to prepare for such a team. They possess quality in their playing personnel and, of course, credit should also go to their technical team.

“Coach Pitso has managed the team very well and their rotation of the team makes it difficult to know exactly who is going to play. But at the same time it doesn't matter who plays becuase each and every player possess quality,” said Mayambela.

“We have picked up both the positives and negatives in their way of playing. As much as they have quality, they have weaknesses which we can exploit. We also have quality in the team, a great mixture of youth and experience. We have youngsters that are hungry to succeed. I believe they have the quality to push the team to greater heights.”
