Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael not happy to play away from home again in the Nedbank Cup

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael feels his team was unfortunate to get yet another away draw in the Nedbank Cup semis.

Stars, who have played away from home twice against National First Division sides Ubuntu Cape Town Super Eagles in the Nedbank Cup, have been drawn to play Kaizer Chiefs away from home in the last four of the competition. Maritzburg United will host Mamelodi Sundowns in the other semi final.

Ea Lla Koto were taken all the way to penalties by Ubuntu in the Mother City on Saturday, after it ended 1-1 in 120 minutes.

"Yes it was a difficult game after [it went to] extra-time and penalties, but the most important thing was to qualify, and that's what happened," Eymael tells

"Unfortunately we had to draw against Chiefs, and Chiefs have played all their games of the Nedbank Cup at home. It's a bit sad."

Before the semi final though, Ea Lla Koto will face Amakhosi in the Absa Premiership in Bethlehem on Wednesday. Stars are fourth on the league standings and Chiefs are a place below them.

"We have to play Chiefs now on Wednesday. We are first focused on the Wednesday game, and then we will see what will happen [in the cup]. We have to play better than we did on the weekend [against Ubuntu]."

Eymael is hoping his players will be ready for the tough test against Amakhosi on Wednesday, after the 120 minutes of football on Saturday, which was followed by the trip back to Free State from the Cape.

"I hope the boys will be ready to face Chiefs, [becsause] we are playing a very good team. We have to do well like we did when we faced Chiefs in the first round."
