SA Players Abroad wrap: Ndlovu scores again, Erasmus misses out

Dino Ndlovu was the only player on target amongst the South Africans abroad this past weekend, while Kermit Erasmus missed out on his debut.

Liam Jordan (HB Koge)

Jordan made his third appearance for Koge and was substituted off after 63 minutes as his side suffered a 2-1 defeat to 11th-placed Brabrand last Thursday. The Danish club remain in seventh position after 23 games following the defeat.

Haashim Domingo/Thibang Phete (Victoria Guimaraes B)

Victoria Guimaraes’ B-side fought back from 2-0 down at half-time to salvage a draw against eighth-placed Leixões last Friday. Domingo featured 77 minutes before being substituted out, while Phete was once again not included in the matchday squad. The result sees Guimaraes B remain in 10th position, with 42 points from 31 games, in the 20-team Portuguese Segunda Liga.

Kamohelo Mokotjo (Brentford)

Mokotjo came on for the final 30 minutes in his 28th appearance this season as Brentford came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Sheffield United on Friday evening. The Bees are currently in 11th place in the Championship, with 55 points from 39 games, and are seven points away from a promotion play-off spot with seven game to play.

Kermit Erasmus (Eskilstuna)

Erasmus was unable to make his debut for the Swedish outfit, after penning a two-year deal last week, as they drew 0-0 with IK Brage in their opening clash of the season on Saturday.

Luther Singh (Sporting Braga B)

Singh featured the full 90 minutes are Braga B drew 1-1 with SC Varzim on Saturday, placing them further into relegation danger as they occupy 19th spot, with 30 points from 30 games and only seven games to play.

Thulani Serero (Vitesse)

Serero was taken off at half-time of his side’s 3-0 defeat to Roda JC on Saturday, as they slipped to seventh spot on the Eredivisie table. Vitesse now find themselves in seventh spot, with 42 points from 29 games, and will be hoping to secure their Europa League place in the final five games of the season.

Lebogang Manyama (Konyaspor)

Manyama was once again absent from the matchday squad as his side drew 0-0 with Osmanlispor on Sunday. The reigning Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season is watching on as Konyaspor find themselves at risk of relegation – in 17th place, with 25 points from 27 games, and three points away from safety in the 18-team Turkish Super Lig.

Dino Ndlovu (Zhejiang Greentown)

Ndlovu returned to scoring form on Sunday as he scored in the dying minutes of the game to see his side fall from 2-1 up at half-time to a 4-3 defeat at home to Shanghai Shenxin. The 28-year-old now has four goals in four for his Chinese second division outfit, since joining in January. Greentwon are currently in third position with six points from four games.

Lebogang Phiri (Guimgamp)

Phiri was absent from the matchday squad as he watched his side register a 2-1 win over Bordeaux on Sunday. Guimgamp are currently in 10th position, with 38 points from 31 games, and are now nine points clear from the relegation zone with seven games left.

Keagan Dolly (Montpellier)

Dolly was an unused sub as Montpellier recorded a 3-1 victory over Caen. The win saw them move up to fifth spot on the Ligue 1 table, but remain 15 points away from the Europe League play-off spot, which is currently occupied by Lyon.

Bongani Zungu (Amiens)/Lebo Mothiba (Lille)

Zungu and Mothiba came to face-to-face as they both started and played the full 90 minutes when Amiens beat Lille 1-0 on Sunday evening. The result sees Mothiba’s side remain in 19th position – still two points away from relegation safety – and Zungu’s outfit steer five points clear off the drop zone, with seven games remaining.
