PSL reshuffle fixtures to accomodate clubs in CAF competitions

Posted: 29 March 2018 Time: 17:46

The Premier Soccer League have announced changes to the fixture schedules for the Absa Premiership clubs participating in continental competitions.

The PSL have shown their support for member clubs SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits' participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

It was announced on Thursday evening that the two clubs would have at least two of their upcoming league fixtures reworked in an attempt to provide some relief in their schedules, with Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, Cape Town City, Polokwane City and Ajax Cape Town all affected.

However, Sundowns, who face a schedule of eight fixtures in four weeks, will not see much difference as their fixtures against Wits and Golden Arrows have merely been swapped around, rather than moved to different dates.

The Brazilians will thus face the Clever Boys, who are also still contesting the Confederation Cup group stage play-offs after their elimination from the Champions League, on April 14 and Arrows on April 17.

Aside from the Sundowns fixture, Wits have had their fixture against Ajax – initially set for April 6, now moved to April 11, as they are set to host Nigerian side Enyimba on that date.

Their clash against Polokwane City which had initially been scheduled for April 13, which is when they face Enyimba in the second-leg clash, has been moved to April 22.

Similarly, SuperSport will have their fixture against Orlando Pirates moved from April 6 to April 11 to accomodate their continental clash away to Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia on April 8.

This will also see Matsatsantsa and Cape Town City's showdown – set for April 13 – moved to April 14, to allow them an added day's rest.

Meanwhile, Rise and Shine's meeting with the Citizens has also been altered from April 24 to April 25, to allow the Limpopo-based outfit an extra day's preparation.
