Pitso Mosimane says no one can compare to Percy Tau this season

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says it would not make sense to give the PSL footballer of the season award to anyone other than Percy Tau.

Mosimane says he has been listening to football analysts campaigning for other players to win the award, but he says no one can compare to Tau this season.

Tau has been Sundowns’ best player this season and is arguably head and shoulders above the rest in the PSL. He has 10 goals and as many assists in all competitions in what has been an incredible campaign for the Bafana Bafana forward.

Tau has been widely tipped to win the award.

“I don’t know how you look at it because I was listening to SuperSport 4 two weeks in a row and people are campaigning for who is the coach of the year and people are campaigning for player of the year. It’s unbelievable, people have agendas, it’s not funny. But it’s the same culprits,” Mosimane said earlier today at a press conference at the Premier Soccer League offices, ahead of Sunday’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against Cape Town City.

“For me can’t compare Percy Tau with anybody, give it to him. He plays Champions League and he’s scoring. He is scoring for Bafana, he is scoring in the league, he is scoring in the Nedbank Cup. Who do you want to compare him to? No, let’s be honest, who do you want to compare him to? Okay you can have nominees, which is good, but give it to Percy.

“He is doing it week in, week out. You can’t compare him to well rested teams. You can’t compare mathematics at lower grade and compare to someone who is doing higher grade. No, you can’t.”
