SuperSport United midfielder Aubrey Modiba believes they have what it takes to finish in the top eight this season.
It’s been a disastrous Absa Premiership campaign for Matsatsantsa, who are in 14th place with six matches to go in the season.
SuperSport have only won six out of the 24 matches they have played this season and they would need to collect maximum points their remaining games to ensure they finish in the top eight.
“Right now there’s six games remaining. What motivates us is that when you win one game you are close to the top eight. That is helping us to keep on pushing so that we can reach our goal of finishing in the top eight,” he says.
“We know it’s hard. The games are coming thick and fast, but at least we’ve had a break and we can focus on getting maximum results.
Modiba says they are enjoying interim coach Kaitano Tembo’s training sessions. The former Zimbabwean international has taken over from Eric Tinkler, who resigned earlier this month following a string of poor results and performances.
“He [Tembo] has been great to us. We are enjoying his training sessions because he did not change much. It’s not like he is a stranger to us. He has been with the team, he’s a great coach.”
Matsatsantsa are away to fellow strugglers Polokwane City on April 4.
