Super Eagles: A force to be reckoned with

Nigeria will have another opportunity to send out a strong warning before the 2018 Fifa World Cup, when they take on Serbia in an international friendly tonight.

After the embarrassment of failing to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles have proved a team to be reckoned with under new coach Gernot Rohr and have lost only once in their last 12 international outings, aiding in their table-topping World Cup qualifying campaign.

The team will now be looking to follow up their 1-0 win over Robert Lewandowski's Poland over the weekend when they take on the Serbians at The Hive Stadium in Harrow, London this evening.

This will prove the first meeting between Nigeria and Mladen Krstajic's Serbia, who were also table-toppers in their World Cup qualifying group, setting up what promises to be an intense meeting between the teams, despite its billing as a friendly.

Nigeria has some of the most promising talent on the African continent, such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfried Ndidi and Alex Iwobi. Odion Ighalo, who left the English Premier League for the Chinese Super League not too long ago, is another player who should be looked out for, not just in the friendly tonight, but at the World Cup as well.

However, Serbia have managed just one win from their last three matches and most recently went down 2-1 to Morocco last week.
