Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha expressed his delight at being called up to the Bafana Bafana squad, despite not having the best of seasons.
Madisha recently admitted that he is having “worst season” but Bafana coach Stuart Baxter still included him in the squad for the Four Nations tourmanent which Bafana won in Zambia.
Bafana beat the Zambians 2-0 in the final on Saturday, thanks to goals from Madisha’s teammate Percy Tau and overseas based Lebo Mothiba.
“Maybe the national team coach is also helping me to try improve my football. He is also trying to help me to identify where I have been doing wrong and where I have been doing right,” said Madisha, who feels getting a call-up was a good thing so that he continues to improve his game.
“Being called up to the national team is a bonus because every player wants to be called up. I feel it’s a good thing for me to be called up while I have horrible games. I have to prove that I can be a better player. I have to prove that I can do it, whether I am under pressure or not.
Madisha will be hoping he can feature regularly so that he gets an opportunity to play the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, if Bafana qualify.
