Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure's surprise absence from the latest Ivory Coast national team has been explained after his arrival with the rest of the squad was not confirmed by the Elephants technical staff.
Toure, 34, last featured for the West African nation in 2015, after playing an integral part in their triumphant Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
However, in December he announced his intentions to return to the struggling squad, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, their first failure since the 2002 edition.
Now after being selected in the 25-man squad to face Togo and Moldova in France, on March 24 and 27 respectively, the former FC Barcelona midfielder has been forced to withdraw due to family commitments.
His absence will come as a major blow to the African nation currently without a head coach after Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha was ruled out of the friendlies through injury.
