Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe says they want to make it up to their supporters

Despite registering a victory over Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup last weekend, Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe says they are not quite over their defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership.

Amakhosi still want to make it up to their supporters for losing 3-1 to their Soweto rivals at FNB Stadium a fortnight ago and have a chance to do so when they host AmaZulu at FNB Stadium tomorrow night (18h00).

Chiefs are fifth on the league standings, eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are playing in the CAF Champions League this weekend. Amakhosi still believe they have a chance in the title race, so they need to make sure they beat Usuthu to close the gap to five points.

Hadebe, who made his debut against AmaZulu in the first half of the season, says they are on a mission to make it up to their supporters after that defeat to the Buccaneers, who are seen as Sundowns’ biggest rivals in the title race.

“They [AmaZulu] have a good side,” the defender tells the Amakhosi website.

“However, we are still disappointed with the Orlando Pirates defeat, despite our win over Stellenbosch FC last week. We want to make it up to our supporters and that means that we will have to beat AmaZulu.”

Amakhosi have the second best defence in the league, having conceded 15 goals, one more than Maritzburg United have let in up to this point. They will be looking to keep a clean sheet against AmaZulu, but Hadebe says a win is more important at this stage of the season.

“As a defender you never want to concede goals and we are frustrated if we do. But the most important priority is that we win,” he says.
