Bafana Bafana have moved up one place in the Fifa rankings

Posted: 15 March 2018 Time: 11:14

Bafana Bafana have moved up the Fifa rankings again, despite not being in action since November last year.

Bafana, who are set to play in a four nations tournament in the upcoming international week, have moved up one place on the world rankings into 76th. The 1996 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) champions are ranked 15th on the continent.

Bafana named their squad to play in the four nations tournament which features hosts Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola. After failing to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia, Bafana coach Stuart Baxter will be using the matches to prepare for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which resume in September.

The coach has included a few youngsters in his team for the upcoming friendlies as he looks to build for the future after the disappointment of not qualifying for the showpiece in Russia.

World champions Germany top the world rankings, while Tunisia, who have qualified for the World Cup, are top of the pile in Africa.

Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Algeria complete the top 10 in Africa.
