Cape Town City captain Robyn Johannes has warned his former employers Orlando Pirates things will be different this time around in their Nedbank last-16 clash tonight at Cape Town Stadium.

City were beaten 1-0 when the sides last met in December courtesy of a late Thabo Qalinge winner in a match that was filled with controversy after Lehlohonolo Majoro’s goal was disallowed.

The Citizens has since fallen out of the league title race, but Johannes maintains there is still a lot at stake for Benni McCarthy's side.

“Obviously we expecting a difficult game, they are on form... but in games like these, form means nothing,” Johannes tells KickOff.com.

“It’s who wants it more on the day, you know. It will be nothing like our league game earlier in the season. Besides we need to get one over them again.

“But take nothing away from them, they are a really good team but so are we. It’s going to be a really good game for everyone watching.”

Johannes, who’s signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits, hopes to leave the Mother City outfit on a triumphant note with Nedbank Cup gold.

“We are just a few games away from success in this competition and realistically speaking we can go all the way,” Johannes adds.

“But it’s important that we as players show our hunger and determination on the field, as that is where it matters. We would also like to stamp our authority on this competition as we fell short last season when we were beaten by Acornbush United.”

Kick-off is at 19h30.
