Reneilwe Letsholonyane grateful for contract extension at SuperSport United

SuperSport United midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane is grateful that the club put his age aside when they offered him a new contract.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player, who turns 36 in June, was given a one-year extension by the club. He initially signed a two-year contract when he joined Matsatsantsa A Pitori from Amakhosi last season and the club has rewarded him with another year.

Throughout his time at SuperSport the experienced campaigner, who has won the Nedbank Cup and MTN8 with the Tshwane outfit, has shown that he still has a lot to offer on the pitch.

He made 36 appearances in all domestic competitions last season and this term he has featured 27 times.

“It feels good to know that people you work for value you that much. They put the age thing aside and purely believe in your contribution at the club and that on its own makes me appreciate every little thing they have done for me,” Letsholonyane tells

“It makes me want to do well for the team and represent them in the best possible well. In the past season I proved that I am a professional and I do my job the best way possible, and on their side it’s about appreciating and believing that I still have a lot to offer in this team.

“So for me it’s about doing what I have been doing because I love this game and I respect the game. I am happy that the people I work have faith and belief in my ability.”

Letsholonyane did not want to comment much on the departure of coach Eric Tinkler, who resigned a fortnight ago.

“It’s sad that a person you have worked with has to leave, but it happens and it’s part of football. Players and coaches come and go. I would rather not say much about the coach’s departure.”
