Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids believes Bafana Bafana newcomer Siphesihle Ndlovu is a shoo-in for the PSL Young Player of the Season award.
The 21-year-old Maritzburg youth graduate has shone in midfield this season, reiterating his value with another man-of-the-match display in the 2-1 Nedbank Cup win over Royal Eagles on Sunday.
Ndlovu, who became the first United player to win the PSL's Player of the Month prize for January, received further recognition with a maiden Bafana Bafana call-up for a four-nations tournament in Zambia from March 22 to 25.
Davids feels the Team of Choice star has the ability to ply his trade in Europe.
“I don’t see anyone really challenging Ndlovu for the [Young Player of the Season] award,” Davids is quoted as saying by the club following the weekend victory in KwaMashu.
“It’s unbelievable what he has achieved so far. Talking of men against boys, with him it shows with his understanding of the game; when to slow it down, when to pick up the pace.
“That’s what he did, with 10 men [after Bevan Fransman’s sending off], sometimes you don’t have to play fast, sometimes you do.
“His understanding of the game, his reading of the game, tactically you give him any instruction and he takes it to a tee.
“We should be thinking about him moving all the way to Europe.”
