Bidvest Wits striker Amr Gamal seeking early release from his contract

KickOff.com has been informed that Egyptian striker Amr Gamal has stopped training with Bidvest Wits and is set to terminate his contract with the Clever Boys in the next few days.
Gamal joined Wits at the start of the season and despite his bright start with the defending champions, the Egyptian striker has fallen out of favour with coach Gavin Hunt.
Gamal, who set up the winning goal for Vincent Pule in the Telkom Knockout earlier this season, joined the Clever Boys on a one-year loan deal from Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
He has only made one appearance in 2018, as a substitute in an Absa Premiership match against Chippa United in January. Hunt has been using the likes of Lehlohonolo Majoro, James Keene, Eleazar Rodgers and Gabadinho Mhango upfront.
According to a source close to the matter, the representatives of Gamal and Wits are in talks in a bid to set the player free from his contract with the Clever Boys.
"It’s an open secret that the relationship between the club and Gamal has broken down,” a source told KickOff.com.
"He is trying to secure his early release and hopefully he will get his clearance before the end of this week,” he added.
Gamal’s agent Mohamed Habashy has confirmed that his client has stopped training with Wits, but could not give further comment.
It's World Cup year and Gamal will be hoping he can still make the Egyptian squad, despite not getting game time at club level.
