Free State Stars winger Sinethemba Jantjie says they will be happy with top eight finish

Free State Stars winger Sinethemba Jantjie says they are not putting themselves under pressure to win the Absa Premiership title.

Ea Lla Koto have been the surprises packpages this season, thanks to coach Luc Eymael who has transformed them into a side challenging for the country’s biggest prize, the league title.

Third-placed Stars are just six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with seven matches to go. They’ve been getting results both at home and on the road, so they cannot be ruled out of winning a first PSL title, but that is not on their mind according to the skilful Jantjie, who is in his second season with the club.

“Our objective was to make sure that we don’t fight relegation this season and we have achieved that,” the former Mbombela United player tells

“We wanted to be in top eight and we are there now. We want to maintain that position and we don’t want to put ourselves under pressure of saying we are going to win the league.”

Ea Lla Koto will face Chippa United at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in the league after beating them 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup at the weekend in Free State. A win for them in East London will make the title race even more interesting than it already is.
