South African striker Dino Ndlovu began his new adventure in China with a goal, with Haashim Domingo netted twice in Portugal to continue his side’s run of recent form.
The 21-year-old was an unused substitute as 10th-placed St Truiden ended the regular season with a 1-0 loss to first-placed Club Brugge. The Belgian Pro League now enters the play-off stage, with the top six teams fighting out for the championship, and positions 7-15 fighting for a Europa League berth. Abrahams made just seven substitute appearances during the regular campaign this season.
KEAGAN DOLLY/LEBO MOTHIBA
It was a showdown between the two South Africans in Lille as Dolly’s Montpellier took on Mothiba’s LOSC Lille in Ligue 1. Unfortunately for Dolly, he remained an unused substitute on the bench for a third league game in succession as Montpellier were held to a fourth league draw in a row, playing out a 1-1 stalemate. Mothiba was handed his fifth start for Lille, playing 72 minutes before making way. Montpellier are now down to eighth in the league, while Lille are second-from-bottom in the relegation zone with just nine games left in the campaign, with fans showing their frustrations by invading the pitch.
HAASHIM DOMINGO/THIBANG PHETE
Domingo made his 19th start of the season count, providing a match-winning performance as his brace led Portuguese Second Division club Vitoria Guimaraes II to a 2-0 win over Gil Vicente, stretching their nine-match unbeaten run in the league to push them up to ninth. Teammate Phete came on as a second-half substitute for his 20th appearance of the campaign.
Jacobs made his 19th start of the season, playing the full 90 minutes as Scottish Championship side Queen of the South won 1-0 away at Dumbarton, leaving them fifth in the league after 26 games played.
Jali was out injured and thus not named in Oostende’s squad for their final game of the season as they went down 3-2 to Standard Liege to end the regular season in 11th position, and now enter Play-Offs II for a spot in the Europa League.
Links’ Egyptian club Alassiouty Sport were last in action on Wednesday, playing out a 1-1 draw in which the 19-year-old played the full match, with his club now sitting in 10th on the log. They’re in action again this Wednesday, away to 16th-placed Tanta.
Mahlambi made his sixth league start of the campaign, playing 67 minutes as Al Ahly recorded a 1-0 away win at Enppi on Sunday to record their 17th victory in succession in all competitions. They’re now 22 points clear at the top of the Egyptian table.
Konyaspor recorded a third loss in a row on Sunday, going down 2-1 to league leaders Galatasaray as Manyama again failed to make the match day squad. The Turkish club are now 17th in the standings, four points adrift of safety.
Mokotjo was an unused substitute as Brentford went down 1-0 to Millwall, who leap-frogged them into 10th place in the league. Brentford are now eight points off a possible Premier League play-off spot with 10 games left in the season, with a game in hand.
Ndlovu made his Hangzhou Greentown debut on the weekend, netting in his first appearance to help his club to a 2-0 victory over Nei Mongol Zhongyou to get their Chinese League One season off to the perfect start.
Nunes made his 26th appearance of the season, and was substituted off for the first time this campaign, as Pogon Szczecin lost 3-0 to ninth-placed Cracovia, leaving them 14th after 27 games.
Phiri was an unused substitute as Guingamp went down 5-2 to seventh-placed Nice, as they dropped two places to 13th in the French top-flight after 29 games.
Following a memorable win over Ajax last weekend, Vitesse were brought down to earth with a 5-1 humbling at the hands of fourth-placed Utrecht, with Serero playing the full game in his 21st start of the season. The loss leaves Vitesse sixth on the log with seven games left in the season.
Singh was unable to help his side in his 26th game of the season as Sporting Braga II went down 2-1 to fifth-placed Nacional. They’re still precariously positioned in 18th place on the log, just two points above safety.
Untersee, who Baxter recently announced has made himself available for Bafana Bafana selection, was an unused substitute as Serie B club Empoli beat Virtus Entella 2-1 to maintain their spot at the summit of the Italian Second Division standings, as they lead the pack by one point with 13 games left in the campaign. Untersee has made 13 appearances this season, but worryingly just one so far in 2018.
Following a reported tiff with his coach, Veldwijk was told he will not feature for the rest of the season at Groningen, and was thus left out of the squad as his Dutch team beat PEC Zwolle 2-0 to now sit seventh in the Eredivisie with seven games remaining in the season.
Zungu marked his long-awaited return form injury with a full 90-minute display in Amiens’ 1-1 draw against Dijon, leaving them 16th in the league and just two points above safety with nine games left in the campaign.
