Promotion contenders assess Mor Diouf

KickOff.com can confirm that Senegalese defender Mor Diouf is training with Highlands Park with the hope of winning a contract for next season.

Diouf will undergo an extended assessment at Highlands as he hasn’t played much competitive football in the last two years.

The 29-year-old featured in the PSL for six years in the colours of SuperSport United and Maritzburg United but hasn’t been in the topflight since the 2014/15 season.

Diouf is largely remembered for scoring with an audacious shot struck from his own half while he was at SuperSport in a match against Mamelodi Sundowns in March 2013.

Also training with Highlands is Burkina Faso goalkeeper Aboubacar Sawadogo.

The 28-year-old was brought in after being spotted playing at the CHAN finals in Morocco earlier this year.

This season Highlands have had Marlon Heugh and Tapuwa Kapini as their keepers.

Highlands are evidently already planning for life in the PSL next season as they enjoy a 12-point cushion at the top of the First Division standings with just seven games remaining.
