SuperSport United’s 2018 CAF Confederation Cup journey got off to a 0-0 draw against Petro de Luanda.
Luanda came out strong at the start of the game, but the visitors were able to hold their nerve and sustain the pressure.
Aubrey Modiba pulled off a shot after neat play, but it went wide in the 10th minute. It then led Sipho Mbule to get goal-side later on, but he failed to put them in front with the goal at his mercy.
Another big chance came SuperSport's way after Teboho Mokoena but he could only send Modiba’s in-swinging delivery inches wide on the half an hour mark.
As the game drew to a close, Matsatsantsa looked to steal the all-important away victory but were unable to make their dominance pay, particularly in the last third.
Modiba came up with their final chance after turning a defender near the edge of the box, but failed to hit the target, while the hosts were denied by the post after a shot from Da Sousa.
The result leaves the Tshwane outfit on the back foot after failing to register an away goal, despite not losing either.
